Word Vancouver 2016

This is my second year at the Word Vancouver festival, and I will be selling posters, postcards, and chapbooks in the Alice MacKay room of the Vancouver Public Library all day today (Sunday, September 25). I will also have lots of my friend Peter Chiykowski’s Rock, Paper, Cynic merchandise available too.

I’m still working on my Star Wars action figure comic, but I took a break to write a little book that I’m really proud of: The Existentialist Lop.

Q lop.jpg

“I just read Existentialism as a Hoomanism”

It’s basically a beginner’s guide to existentialism as told through the thoughts of a lop bunny rabbit. Lops have long, droopy ears, and they are delight to follow on Instagram. My comic is in the style of the Lops of Instagram who refer to their “Mommy” or “Hoomans” in their first-person posts.

I also have a poem coming out soon in Carousel Magazine. The issue will debut at the Word on the Street Festival in Toronto… today I think! I’ll post more about this soon.

Hope to see you at Word Vancouver!

Fan Expo Vancouver

Fan Expo Vancouver is almost here!

For the last few years at Fan Expo, I have helped my friend Peter Chiykowski sell merchandise for his amazing webcomic: Rock, Paper, Cynic. This year, I am going to be at his booth (A2 in Artist Alley) selling some of my own merch!

If you follow me on any type of social media, you have probably noticed my religious adherence to posting at least one photo-haiku every single day. I started around Hallowe’en last year and haven’t missed a day yet.

Even though a lot of my haiku use my own photography or stock photos for which I have usage rights, a lot of the geeky ones use images from my favourite films and TV shows.

To sell some of these poems at conventions I wanted original art to accompany them, so I reached out to artists from all over the world (thanks Internet!) and put together what I feel is a pretty wonderful set of 15 haiku (11 postcard prints and 4 posters).

I want some of them to be a surprise at the convention, but I thought I’d post a handful here to whet your appetite.

I’ll also be selling these online (store coming soon). I hope you like them!

This poster would look great in my messy room so I don’t have to apologise to guests.

Clockwork Kiru Publication

ck

Okay, so how cool is the premise of Steampunk haiku? As soon as I read about the call for poems for this anthology, I wrote a haiku about Tennyson and Browning duking it out with their war cogs and clockwork armies (because that is an obvious historical fact in the steampunk fantasy world that ticks away in the back of my mind). Yes, all that in 17 syllables (+ the title… which is usually cheating in the haiku world), but it probably helps having this explanation.

It’s in paperback at amazon.ca and amazon.com, and createspace. I’ll update this post when the eBook becomes available.
